LG Optimus Black launches in white version, but you have to admit you can’t call a white phone Black. So LG came up with a new name for the white model – LG Optimus White Edition and it is already available in the Netherlands.

The LG Optimus White edition is virtually the same as its Optimus Black sibling save for the panel colors. If you live in the Netherlands, you can get it for free with a contract on carrier Sizz right now.

It’s nice to see that LG has put some thought on the name before launching the white version. But should we now expect Optimus Silver, Optimus Pink, etc? Let’s hope LG limits to those two names instead of launching a whole lineup of similar devices with different names.

LG Optimus Black and LG Revolution

The Optimus Black will feature ultra-slim design with “the best display clarity”, supposedly being Apple’s Retina Display killer. So far it is unknown whether the device will be 4G enabled or which carrier will offer it. What’s for sure though is the 2MP front-facing camera.

The other Android handset that’s going to be revealed at CES is Optimus 2X’s LTE-enabled twin, called LG Revolution. The device is probably going to be released in Verizon’s new LTE network and will remain US-only.

Here’s another appearance of the LG E900. This time there are proper photos and even a 20-minute-long video. The Czech guys behind it call the device Optimus 7 but we’ve heard LG call another phone like that so we’re taking the petname with a pinch of salt.

As we previously wrote, LG E900 or as suggested now – Optimus 7 – will pack a 1GHz or 1.3GHz Qualcomm processor, a 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and HD video recording, full connectivity package and, of course, it will run Windows Phone 7.

MobilMania.cz managed to get their hands on a pre-release unit of the Windows Phone 7-running LG Optimus 7. There isn’t much to say, you’d better see it.

LG Optimus 7

And here is a twenty-minute long demo video showing everything you may want to now in terms of software. Too bad all the background narration is in Czech.

The LG E900, be it Optimus 7 or not, should be announced in several weeks when Microsoft finally pops the champagne on Windows Phone 7.

T-Mobile is getting a scoopful of affordable LG phones and there’s another LG on the verge of becoming official – the LG GM360 Viewty Snap otherwise known as Bali. Two of the LG handsets for T-Mobile are not new models, but rebranded current models – one of the Cookie family and the Lollipop.

The LG GM360 Viewty Snap is an affordable descendant of the Viewty – it’s a touch phone with 3-inch screen with 240×400 pixels resolution and a 5MP camera with LED flash.

The LG GM360 Viewty Snap offers just GSM/EDGE network connectivity, but there’s Wi-Fi on board, which makes up for that. The Wi-Fi supports the b/g standards and DLNA. The UI appears to be the one used on mid-end LG devices, like the LG KM570 Cookie Gig.

LG GM360 Viewty Snap

There are mentions of the LG GM360 on LG’s site but no official specs or release date yet.

Now, for the T-Mobile bound LGs. The first one is called LG Senio – a rebranded LG GS500 Cookie Plus. What you have to look forward to is a 3″ WQVGA touchscreen, 3MP camera and 3G connectivity. There’s a slight difference between the LG Senio and the GS500 Cookie Plus – there’s an added GPS receiver and it also comes with T-Mobile’s web2go and Social Buzz services.

LG Sentio • LG dLite open and closed • LG GS170

Next up is the LG dLite or LG GD580 Lollipop clamshell in new clothes. It packs a 2.8″ non-touch WQVGA screen and 3G connectivity. It too has a 3MP snapper and Social Buzz. Both the LG dLite and the LG Senio have a microSD card slot to expand their memories.

Last comes the LG GS170 – another clamshell, but this one is decidedly low-end. It’s got a VGA camera, email support and Bluetooth 2.1.

The T-Mobile LG trio will be available this summer.

LG Town GT350 is the pioneer of the new Town series. It’s a KS360-like device with sliding-out QWERTY keyboard, touchscreen, social networking integration and S-Class-styled interface.

LG announced today their new Town series and its first member – the GT350. It packs a 3-inch resistive WQVGA touchscreen, sliding-out full QWERTY keyboard, 2 megapixel snapper, quad-band GSM with EDGE, Bluetooth and microSD card slot.

Similar to LG Cookie Gig, which we recently reviewed, the GT350 runs on the standard LG user interface with S-Class like homescreen and main menu. Still the fully functional S-Class is reserved for the top-tier LG handsets only.

The key feature of the GT350 is its tight social networking integration with Facebook and Twitter, powered by the handy QWERTY keypad.

The Town GT350 looks much like an update over the KS360, bringing slightly updated menu looks and 0.6-inch bigger screen. Unfortunately, there’s still no 3G connectivity to keep pricing low.

LG Town GT350 is expected to hit the European shelves in July, while the pricing and other availability is yet to be announced.

Introduction

Cookies just won’t stay put – they need more space to do their thing. The LG KM570 Cookie Gig steps right into LG Arena territory. With looks and camera to match and a Cookie-grade price tag, this phone is on track to go platinum. The Dolby mobile logo at the back hints at a knack for multimedia and the 4GB of built-in memory means there’ll be plenty of room for your music.

But we’ll not let the pretty face fool us, the Cookie Gig has its highs and lows – here they are in summary.

LG KM570 Cookie Gig official photos

Key features:

3″ 256K-color resistive TFT touchscreen of WQVGA resolution (240 x 400 pixels)

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support

3G with HSDPA (7.2 Mbps)

Widget-enhanced interface and Livesquare homescreen

5 megapixel autofocus camera with face detection

D1 video recording @ 30fps, QVGA time-lapse and QVGA slo-mo video

4GB of built-in storage

microSD card slot, up to 16GB

Standard 3.5mm audio jack

Standard microUSB port (charging)

Dolby for Mobile audio enhancement

Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP

Accelerometer for screen auto rotate; turn to mute

Landscape on-screen QWERTY keyboard

FM radio with RDS and FM transmitter

Office document viewer

Social networking integration

Smart dialing

Main disadvantages:

No Wi-Fi

No GPS

Low resolution screen (compared to LG Arena)

Camera has no flash or protective cover

Records video in 3GP only

Poor sunlight legibility

Maximum email attachment size is 2.2MB only (both ways)

No DivX/XviD video support

No handwriting recognition support

So, the LG KM570 can’t quite match the LG Arena, but no mistake – it’s a king amongst Cookies. The camera has the same high-end features as the LG Arena’s, and the inclusion of Dolby mobile and some iPod trickery earn the audio player high marks.

The user interface is borrowed from the LG GD510 Pop. It’s the regular LG touch UI but with a coat of S-Class paint over it. And it works – it’s nice to look at, ready to multitask and the homescreens are full of widgets. There’s also a bit of pointless fun with Livesquare.

The LG KM570 Cookie Gig chats with other touch phones in our office

So, the LG KM570 Cookie Gig is a marked improvement over the original Cookie and the updates that came after it. But the competition wasn’t sleeping – there are several phones that compete directly with the Gig in its price range, including even the LG Arena.

Just a quick note – the LG KM570 has quite a number of aliases. So it might be called differently where you live. The Cookie Gig is also known as LG Cookie Music, LG Surf 4GB and LG Arena II.

Never mind the name, let’s see what the Cookie Gig has to offer before we pass judgment on it. As always, we start with opening the box – join us on the next page to see what we find.

Another good picture of the WP7-powered LG Panther surfaced today. It shows nothing new, but we finally get an image under some proper lighting.

The phone date points 12 May, which means this LG Panther is as close to the final version as it gets at this stage.
