Nokia has just introduced three new Symbian smartphones – Nokia 600, 700 and 701. All three of them have single-tap NFC pairing and sharing capabilities and run on the latest Symbian Belle.

Nokia 600

The Nokia 600 is the cheapest of the trio and the loudest phone of the company so far. It has a standard issue 3.2-inch capacitive TFT touchscreen with nHD resolution (360 x 640 pixels), a 1GHz processor, a 5 megapixel fixed-focus camera with LED flash and 720p video recording, 2GB internal storage and a microSD card slot with 2GB card pre-installed.

The Nokia 600 might be the cheapest but it is the richest one when it comes to connectivity. There is everything in this phone – penta-band 3G with HSPA (14Mbps HSDPA and 5.7Mbps HSUPA), quad-band GSM support, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC capabilities, Wi-Fi b/g, GPS with A-GPS, FM radio and transmitter with internal FM radio antenna and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Nokia 600

The Nokia 600 is expected in Q3 this year in black, white, pink and lime colors. Its Symbian Belle will be sweetened by the NFC versions of Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja.

Nokia 700

According to Nokia, the Nokia 700 is the company’s most compact and eco-friendly smartphone to date. It features a 3.2-inch ClearBlack AMOLED nHD screen, a 1GHz processor, a 5 megapixel fixed-focus snapper with LED flash and 720p video recording, 2GB internal storage and microSD slot.

Nokia 700’s connectivity package is quite impressive too – quad-band GSM and penta-band 3G support with HSPA, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC capabilities, Wi-Fi b/g, GPS with A-GPS, FM radio and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Nokia 700

The Belle-running Nokia 700 is also expected in Q3 this year in Cool Grey, Silver/White, Coral Red, Peacock Blue and Purple.

Nokia 701

The Nokia 701 is inspired by the design of C7 and utilizes a 3.5-inch ClearBlack LED-backlit IPS TFT nHD screen, a 1GHz processor, an 8 megapixel fixed-focus snapper with dual-LED flash and 720p video recording, a front-facing video-call camera, active noise cancellation, 8 GB internal memory expandable via a microSD card slot.

Nokia 701

Its connectivity is exactly the same as the Nokia 700’s – there’s quad-band GSM and penta-band 3G support with HSPA, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC capabilities, Wi-Fi b/g, GPS with A-GPS, FM radio and a 3.5mm audio jack.

As the other two, the Nokia 701 runs on Symbian Belle and is coming in Q3 this year. The expected colors are Steel dark, Silver light, Amethyst violet, and White.

It seems FCC has gotten their hands on the developer exclusive Nokia N950 and they have managed to tear it apart and expose its internals for the camera, which has led to a rather interesting discovery.

It seems that the N950 is rocking a 12 megapixel sensor, unlike the 8 megapixel unit on the N9. Although Nokia did say it will be different they forgot to mention it will be better than the camera on the N9, even though the N950 is a developer device.

Nokia N950 torn apart

Other interesting things that surfaced from the teardown are that the N950 has an LCD instead of an AMOLED display and a smaller 1320mAh battery compared to the 1450mAh battery on the N9, which would be fine for a developer handset.

Two of the latest Nokia Symbian smartphones have just become available. The handsets that started leaving the Nokia factories at the end of last month have finally reached retailers. User in the UK are now able to experience the QWERTY magic of the E6, while those in the US can get their hands on the 4” AMOLED-packing X7-00.The Nokia E6 has been listed at the Finish company UK website as available. Sold on both Pay as you go for £339 and on a £25/month contract for free the smartphone costs just as much as it did when it went on pre-order. You can also get a “Phone only” deal for £10 above the Pay as you go offer. If you take the plunge, you get to pick between three different colors for your shiny new Nokia E6 – black, silver and white.

The Nokia X7-00 on the other hand has even managed to cross the Atlantic and is now listed as in stock with several US online retailers. The asking price is $535.95, which is a bit steep, but early adoption fees usually do that to highly popular smartphones.

The Nokia X7 is currently only available in its Dark Steel color version so if you wanted the Silver one you will have to wait a while longer.

The Nokia C2-06 (or C2-02 according to some sources) appeared on the Nokia Conversation blog, starring on an image dedicated to the IPv6 transition of the company’s OVI browser.

As you can imagine, given the nature of the leak, there were no phone specifications mentioned, but this image is more than enough to confirm the existence of the handset.

Before this confirmation, there was always the chance that the leaked prototype we saw earlier was just a dead project that will never see the light of day. Well, it’s not.

Now this “accidental” appearance of the unannounced C2-06 could be either a PR move by Nokia attempting to generate more interest to the Ovi browser article, or just an honest mistake, but whatever it is, we are sure the dual-SIM fans around the world will be glad it happened.

It was only recently, that we saw the first Dual SIM phones by Nokia, the Nokia X1-01 and C2-00, finally ship.

So how about an official announcement now so we know what exactly to be looking forward to?

Nokia N8 is already available in five completely different colors – orange, blue, green, silver white and dark grey. It seems the variety wasn’t enough so today Nokia launches a pink N8. Is that Symbian Anna running inside?

Just when you thought the N8 was available in enough colors already, Nokia give us another one. Despite the fact that the pink color took last place in the recent “If you could have any colour of Nokia N8, what would it be?” poll, Nokia still decided to go for it.

There is no official word on the stock Symbian version ticking inside, but the pink N8 on the live shots is definitely running on Symbian Anna. Beside the new color, the users who buy the pink model will find a new Little Pink Diva Theme inside plus a Pink Neon Clock and an ELLE fashion app.

Mobile Review’s one-man Nokia rumor mill Eldar Murtazin has pushed out some details regarding the first fruits from the ‘Microkia’ (Microsoft/Nokia) team up, in the form of two new devices bearing the names W7 and W8.

Not only are they not exactly the most original names but the devices in question will apparently resemble the Nokia X7 and the N8 respectively.

Nokia apparently already has one working Windows Phone prototype in their possession, the W7. This X7 lookalike differs from it’s Symbian sibling by its WVGA display, 8MP camera with autofocus and a Qualcomm QSD8250 Chipset. This (or something very similar to this) is most likely going to be the company’s first WP7 device. Nokia targets availability by Q4 of this year, but there’s a good chance that it might take until Q1 of 2012 to see it in action. In its current state the W7 is quite reminiscent of the HTC Mozart in terms of functionality, at least.

The followup to the W7 is naturally, the W8 and there is far greater speculation as this device won’t be making an appearance until Q2 2012. However plans to make this a flagship imaging handset mean it has to have a strong skill set to stand out from the crowd. Using the N8 as the basis this one is said to pack a 12MP camera, a Qualcomm dual-core CPU and an Adreno 320 GPU. Specs are most likely going to change before the official release, but this one certainly looks promising.

In total Nokia plan to push 12 new devices out across 2012 (whether this includes the W7 is unclear) with mentions of the third and fourth WP7 handsets in the lineup consisting of a QWERTY candybar with a touchscreen, akin to the E71 or E6, and a ‘cheap’ touchscreen device probably mimicking the abilities of the W7 but featuring lesser build quality, and weaker imaging capabilities.

The Windows Phone 7 Nokia concept from MWC 2011

It seems they could try to make a bigger impression with some completely fresh designs to really shout about the birth of the WP7 Nokia but what we actually receive could still impress. Perhaps the concept they mocked up for MWC 2011, (a concept that so well embodied both Nokia and WP7) will make a reappearance as something more tangible soon.

Say hello to a new business model from Nokia and a new music-minded one too – the Nokia E6 and the Nokia X7 just went official. Also, the much awaited Symbian^3 update has arrived and it’s called Anna.

First, let’s talk new models. Both the E6 and the X7 are touch-enabled Symbian^3 handsets, but the X7 is a slate with a 4” touchscreen, while the E6 is a bar with a portrait QWERTY and 2.46” VGA touchscreen. Here’s what the Nokia E6 product manager had to say about the new phone.

Nokia E6

The Nokia E6 combines glass and stainless steel in a sleek 115.5 x 59 10.5 mm body and has a taste for BlackBerry blood. It packs quad-band 2G and five-band 3G – a true globe trotter. 3G is enhanced with 10.2Mbps HSDPA and 2Mbps HSUPA.

Nokia E6 combines touchscreen and portrait QWERTY

The E6 also packs Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 with JoikuSpot Premium preinstalled (app that turns the phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot). Nokia have also added enhanced encryption.

The Nokia E6 has an 8MP fixed-focus camera with dual-LED flash capable of 720p HD video recording. Unfortunately, the cameras on both phones lack auto focus.

The Nokia E6 has 8GB of memory built into the phone, expandable by microSD cards up to 32GB.

The Nokia E6 also boasts impressive battery live – up to 28 days of standby and nearly 15 hours of talk time (2G numbers).

Nokia X7

The Nokia X7 packs a 4” nHD AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass (doesn’t say its ClearBlack though) and has a stainless steel body. It comes with an 8GB microSD card pre-installed and a battery that’s good for up to 50 hours of music or 6 hours of video playback.

Nokia X7 is a big-screened music phone

It’s no slouch when it comes to connectivity though – quad-band 2G and tri-band 3G (including a T-Mobile USA compatible version), Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0.

The Nokia X7 packs the same 8MP camera as the E6 – complete with a dual-LED flash and 720p video recording.

The X7 comes with Nokia WH-701 headset in the box – nothing fancy like the X6 had.

Symbian Anna

Both Nokias run the new Symbian Anna – that’s the Symbian^3 update we’ve been waiting for so long. It packs a split-screen keyboard allowing easier text input, an improved browser and enhanced security features too. The redesigned icons are also part of the new UI. Searching has been simplified in Ovi Maps and the app has grown a new public transportation route feature.

The older Symbian^3 models (N8, E7, C7 and C6-01) will be getting getting the Symbian Anna “in the coming months” as an over the air update. For more information on the update, check our extensive blog post.

Pricing and availability

The Nokia E6 and the Nokia X7 are both expected to launch in Q2. The E6 price is estimated at €345 ($500) and the X7 price at €370 ($550)

The Nokia Illuvial collection has silently received a new member – the Nokia C5-03. On the inside, the phone hasn’t changed but it has new makeup on the outside, with pink decals on the back and a matching wallpaper image on the front.

Previous members of the Illuvial Pink line include the Nokia 6303, 6303i, 6700 and the 5530. They came with custom leather pouches and straps in addition to their prettified exterior but that doesn’t seem to be the case with the Nokia C5-03, which just lists the Illuvial Pink edition simply as a color option.

Nokia C5-03 Illuvial pink

Still, the Nokia C5-03 Illuvial pink might appeal to someone’s inner Barbie. Color aside, the C5-03 has a 3.2″ nHD screen, 5MP camera, 600MHz CPU and Symbian S60 fifth edition to offer, along with a light-weight eco-friendly design.

The question of regional availability is murky at best – our online research returned the Ukraine and Bulgaria as the most likely places to get it right now.

If you find the Nokia C5-03 Illuvial pink on sale (or coming soon) elsewhere, drop us a line in the comments

Add the Nokia N900 to the short list of devices running the latest iteration of the Android OS – 2.3 Gingerbread. The last of the Maemo kind just got an unofficial ROM that, while not perfectly stable, proves that a relationship between those two is possible.

The Nokia N900 Gingerbread port comes courtesy of Alexey Roslyakov, a Russian coder, better known under the nickname DrunkDebbuger. He says a publicly available experimental release should come before the year’s end, which means in less than a week. Of course it’s not completely functional at this stage, but cellular data, Wi-Fi and sound are a go and naturally support for the rest of the hardware is being added as we speak.

If being an alpha tester isn’t much to your liking, you can try the stable Android 2.2.1 Froyo release for your N900. Roslyakov says it should be available for Christmas.

The final bit of good news is that there will be some kind of Android release for the Nokia N900 in time for the old calendar Christmas (7 January).

It seems that all N900 owners have made Santa’s Good kid book this year.
